What Made Music Videos BIG in all countrys (MTV)

MTV (Music Television) is an American cable television network based in New York City and launched on August 1, 1981. The original purpose of the channel was to play music videos guided by on-air hosts known as VJs. Today, MTV still plays a limited selection of music videos, but the channel primarily broadcasts a variety of popular culture and reality television shows targeted at teenagers and younger viewers.
Since its premiere, MTV has had a profound impact on the music industry and popular culture. Slogans such as "I want my MTV" became embedded in public thought, the concept of the VJ was popularized, the idea of a dedicated video-based outlet for music was introduced, and both artists and fans found a central location for music events, news, and promotion. MTV has also been referenced countless times in popular culture by musicians, other TV channels and shows, films and books.
MTV has spawned numerous sister channels in the U.S. and affiliated channels internationally. MTV's moral influence on young people, including issues related to censorship and social activism, has been a subject of debate for years. MTV's choice to focus on non-music programming has also been contested relentlessly since the 1990s, demonstrating the channel's impact on popular culture.

MTV, MTV2, MTV Adria, MTV Arabia, MTV Asia, MTV Australia, MTV Base, MTV Base Africa, MTV Brasil, MTV Central, MTV Chi, MTV Dance, MTV Desi, MTV Tr3s, MTV Europe, MTV Hits, MTV Hungary, MTV India, MTV Italia, MTV Jams, MTV Japan, MTV K, MTV Latin America, MTV Pakistan, MTV Philippines, MTV Portugal, MTV Puerto Rico, MTV Spain, MTV Turkey, MTVU

What is a Music Video

A music video is a short film or video that accompanies a complete piece of music/song. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. Although the origins of music videos go back much further, they came into their own in the 1980s, when MTV based their format around the medium, and later with the launch of VH1. The term "music video" first came into popular usage in the early 1980s. Prior to that time, these works were described by various terms including "filmed insert", "promotional film", "promotional clip" or "film clip". In Chinese entertainment, music videos are simply known as MTVs because the network was responsible for bringing music videos to popularity in that country.
Music videos use a wide range of styles of film making techniques, including animation, live action filming, documentaries, and non-narrative approaches such as abstract film. Some music videos blend different styles, such as animation and live action.

MAGAZINE COVER FINISHED

Final, The actual Magazine Add

Second Draft

First Draft

I have changed my magazine cover 3 times and this is because i have found new ideas as i have gone along that have made me want to change my magazine cover each time. I decided i needed less writing and let the audience focus on the picture on the magazine cover and let that do most of the talking.

Making My Magazine Cover

I started to make my Magazine Cover, i was using all of the techiniques i had found on the internet and taking ideas from magazines i had looked at on and off of the internet.
I was creating my magazine cover on the same software as i made my CD Album, Microsoft Powerpoint.
I was using this system as it had all the fonts, shapes, sizes, colours and other special techniques that i needed to create my Magazine cover. So i used all of the tools i had a my desposal.
I set my page on my powerpoint to the Magazine cover measurements and then i created it.
I finished my Magazine cover tonight, i checked over it all incase of any mistakes such as spelling and so on.
Then it was all FINISHED.
Now both my CD/Album Booklet and Magazine Cover where DONE.

Examples of Magazine Covers

Researching Magazines

Now i have finished my Album booklet i am now doing my research on Magazines so that i can get ideas on what to put on my magazine and how to create it.
I looked at all of the magazines i could find at home, to see what made them stand out, unique selling points, size of font, colours and anything else i could find on them that would help me in creating the best magazine cover i possible could.
I looked at all the magazines i had, Car, Sport and so on, i also looked for all of the advertisment in the magazines for films coming soon, DVD adverts because i was trying to sell a similar product as i had created a Music Video.
I also looked all over the internet at the top Magazine agencies to see all of there advertiment techniques and what makes there magazines sell.

CD / ALBUM COVER FINISHED

Making My Album booklet

I started to make my aldum booklet and i had all of my ideas in my head on what i was going to put on it.
I decided to create my booklet on microsoft powerpoint as it had all of the formats / fonts and all the design techniques i needed in order to create my booklet that i wanted and imaged.
I got the measurements off my teacher for the Booklet size and then created my templates on the sizes i was given and then i made 5 slides of these templates with 2 boxes on each side, so that gave me 10 pages overall to work with.
I created and finished my album during the night, i finished so quickly because i had planned what i was going to do because of my research on other CD's.

CD / ALBUMS That have given me inspiration

The CDs and there Booklets that have given me inspiration in creating my Album Booklet for my Music video are ..........

Beyonce - I AM SASHA FIERCE

T-Pain - RAPPA TERNT SANGA

Craig David - TRUST ME

50 Cent - GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN

Starting My Album Booklet And My Magazine Cover

We where told by our teachers that we all needed to make a Album Booklet and a Magazine Cover for our Music Videos and even if we where in a group of two, we still needed to make our own seperaltley.
So i did loads of research on magazine cover that lesson and then once i got home i looked at many diiferent CD booklets and wrote down the best bits of each booklet in order to make my CD booklet the best it could possible be.

FINAL EDITING (MUSIC VIDEO FINISHED AND READY TO WATCH)

Our teacher had saved the work yesturday and put it onto a disc incase something went wrong again with the loading up of the work, but gladley the work did open and i could crack on with finishing the editing today.
I found the other clips that i wanted to put in the 10 seconds that were left to fill of the film.
I cut them down so they where very quick cuts, put them inbetween other cuts so that there where loads of different shots in quick succession. I put different shots all over the whole lenght of the film to fill the 10 second gap rather then just putting the clips i had just got in one section of the film as the film we where trying to create had a story line and we had a structure to that story line so i had to fit the shots around this.
Finally i had filled the gaps in the film and it was now complete, i rendered the work area which took 5 mintues to do, i watched the film over before giving it in to make sure there where no bad parts, anything going wrong or something that shouldnt be there or in the wrong place.
Everything was fine, i saved the work again and again and again just to make sure because of all of the problems that had happened to us and then i gave the hardrive into my teacher and from there he transfered it onto a disc and to a file on his computer for back up and that was all COMPLETED.
MUSIC VIDEO WAS FINISHED !!!!!

Disaster / Continuing editing

After finishing our introduction of the logo and the presents slide last lesson everything was looking good and i was hoping to finish editing today and get the film put on to disc.
But when it came to opening our file with our work on, again there was a problem and this was the worst time for it to come as we where so close to finishing.
So i followed the instructions the computer was telling me to do in order to open my work and this ment locating files which took quite along time, once everything was found the work opened and nearly most of the woprk was there apart from one or two things, so we knew we had to get this done or this would keep on happening. I did all the work that was missing and managed to complete that in the time we had left of the lesson and so i saved the work there and my target was to get it finished the next day.

Picture of the logo

Making the logo

We used a format that we found off the internet to create our logo, so we made it using this format and choose the colours that we wanted and what we thought would go best with the mood and type of film we had created. The colours where black and red.
Once this was created i had to put it onto our film.
So i saved the logo we had created, put it onto my Memory Stick and then saved it onto the computer that all of our editing was being done on and then from there i put the file with our logo on it, on to the hard drive so that the file was backed up and so when we saved our work it would not be lost as it could be located on the hardrive where all of our filming was saved. Then i edited it onto our film by locating it from the hardrive and importing it into our film and draging it to where i wanted it, where was at the start. I set it to be displayed for 7 seconds before the film would start and then once this was finish we decide to put a PRESENTS slide in after the logo to make our film better quality and so we created that using the Adobe Premiere Pro system, so the text was not the smae as our logo but this is what we wanted and so we found the right text to type the PRESENTS in, which was the most professional text/font we could find, we created it and saved it and then i put it into our film, just like how i put the logo slide in but the PRESENTS slide would only last up to 3 seconds, so that there was a rounded number of 10 and that came in perfectly with the start of the song.
This put another 10 seconds onto the film so i only had to find 10 more seconds in the editing of the film. So every thing was going to plan.

Creating the logo

During this lesson we started to find ways to create the logo, we looked over the internet on different designs and actual company logos to see what designs they used to catch the audiences attention while at the same time relating to what they where producing, which in our case was our film.
This took time and we looked for our perfect logo and where to create it during the whole lesson and during that night, when we did finally find what type of logo we wanted and how we where going to do it, we where ready to start creating it the next day.

Continuing editing

Finally i was back on track after the scare of nnearly losing all of our work yesturday, So i continued to edit the middle of the film, trying to fill up all of the gaps.
By the end of the lesson i was almost there and the film was nearly complete, all that needed to be found was about 20 seconds, which didnt seem much but i knew this was going to be the most difficult part.
So we thought that we could have a introduction into our film, such as a logo and a presents slide before our film would begin.
So this is what i would focus in the next lesson.
